Amanda Cohen

Maple, Ontario, Canada

Amanda Cohen, who was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2012, is the most recent addition to our office. After working at a large Bay Street firm and a smaller boutique firm, Ms. Cohen has returned to the practice of family law, an area she was heavily exposed to both before and during her legal studies.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Cohen was in the Commerce Program at the University of Toronto, with specializations in Finance and Economics. While an undergraduate student, she served as a Teaching Assistant for Law & Economics and Macroeconomics, and earned the distinction of being named a University of Toronto Scholar, an award given to those students in any given year of study who achieve GPAs in the top 0.25%.

She applied to law school before completing her undergraduate degree at the age of 20 and went on to achieve high academic standing at Osgoode Hall Law School, finishing in the top 3% of her class. She was also the recipient of the Scotiabank Group Prize in the Law of Estates and the Caleb J. Hayhoe Prize in International Business.

Work Experience

While completing her law degree, Ms. Cohen was a summer student at a large, full service Bay Street law firm, and went on to article for the same firm. After being called to the bar, she worked with a boutique Toronto immigration firm, handling both Canadian and U.S. matters.

She also volunteered with the Family Law Information Centre at the Brampton Courthouse.
