FAQ during the Initial Call to our Office
Why does our office conduct intake calls prior to scheduling a consultation?
We conduct intake calls to gather basic information and any relevant documents for the lawyer to review before your consultation. This ensures that your consultation time can be spent discussing your concerns, along with the legal and practical issues related to your separation (or plans for marriage or cohabitation).
Why do we offer 2-hour consultations, fixed at a flat fee, rather than 30-minute free consultations?
Based on our experience, a meaningful discussion of the legal and practical issues related to your separation (or plans for marriage or cohabitation) typically requires 2 hours. We offer a 2-hour consultation at a flat fee lower than either lawyer’s standard hourly rate. We believe this provides better value than a brief, 30-minute free consultation followed by additional discussions billed at the lawyer’s normal hourly rate.
Can I bring a friend or family member to my consultation?
Your friends and family are welcome to accompany you to consultations as part of your support system. The only general exceptions to this policy are for minor children and/or the opposing party involved in your matter.
Are consultations in-person or virtual?
We offer consultations both virtually and in-person. Subsequent meetings can be held in your preferred format.
Are the lawyers available outside of normal business hours?
Your divorce affects your life 24/7, which is why we make it a priority to be accessible outside of regular office hours. We also recognize that many of our clients have work and childcare commitments during weekdays, so our lawyers are available evenings and weekends to accommodate your schedule.
Do you have to retain one of the lawyers to schedule a consultation?
Scheduling a consultation allows you to meet with one of our lawyers to ask questions, gain insight, and determine if they are the right fit for your needs. There is no obligation to retain the lawyer after the consultation.
