Meet The Team Of Lawyers
Trusting lawyers to handle your divorce is never easy. We invite you to learn a little more about the firm and our personal backgrounds.
I have been in practice for more than 40 years, but was a mere 20 years old when I entered law school. I have been around long enough to have seen it all, but remain deeply passionate about this work. In addition to being there for my family law clients, I volunteer my time to teaching and educational programs at nonprofit organizations throughout Ontario, serving the needs of diverse communities. I also mentor several young lawyers.
In 2014, my daughter, Amanda Cohen, joined our busy office. Together, we have formed one of the few mother-daughter family law practices in Ontario, and our relationship allows us to work together in a team approach.
I, personally, am a trained mediator, arbitrator and collaborative lawyer and served as a dispute resolution officer (DRO) for the Newmarket/York Region Court for four-and-a-half years, until December 2014. My experience and credentials enable me to offer people what they need when they are considering divorce: options, information, advice and representation.
I am a member of several lawyers’ associations, including the Family Lawyers Association, the Toronto and York Region Collaborative Practice Groups and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals as well as the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association.
I am also devoted to my long-term spouse of 34 years and two adult daughters.
